how it works

A 'double jump' into a new suit is a splinter: it promises 13-16 HCP, 4+ trump support, and a singleton or void in the suit of the splinter bid. The rare exactness is the whole point — partner can evaluate slam knowing whether their honors in the short suit are wasted (paired with your shortness) or useful (controls elsewhere).
