how it works

A cuebid of opener's suit shows a 5-5 (or better) two-suited hand. Over a minor opening, Michaels shows both majors. Over a major opening, it shows the other major and an unspecified minor (partner bids 2NT to ask which). Michaels is played with two strength ranges: 6-11 (preemptive) or 15+ (strong); with 12-14 it is safer to overcall a suit or double.
